In Rajkot, Gujarat, a disturbing case of alleged sexual assault involving two minors has been uncovered. The authorities have apprehended two suspects, Jayesh Majethia and Sandeep alias Lala Patel, following the emergence of a video depicting the abuse on social media.
Reportedly, the accused individuals subjected two minors, aged 14 and 16, to repeated assaults over a period spanning nearly three months within a residential building on a school premises in the city. The A Division police station received a complaint from one of the victims’ grandmother, leading to the filing of an FIR under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
Originating from Nepal, both victims were engaged in washing water containers, where they encountered the perpetrators. According to the 50-year-old complainant, who works as a domestic worker in Rajkot, the accused assaulted the minors persistently and resorted to threats when faced with resistance. It is alleged that the perpetrators filmed the abuse using their mobile phones, subsequently circulating the videos on social platforms.
Authorities have classified the case as grave and are actively conducting further inquiries to uncover all aspects of the incident. Given the absence of birth certificates for the victims, the police conducted medical assessments at a civil hospital to determine their ages. The medical report revealed that one victim falls within the age range of 14 to 17 years. Charges have been pressed against both suspects under Sections 351 and 54(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, in addition to multiple provisions of the POCSO Act, as the investigation progresses.
