A video shared on social media by a constable in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, has stirred controversy, alleging mistreatment and refusal of medical leave despite suffering from kidney stones. The constable, Roop Singh, claimed in the video that he was unwell and diagnosed with kidney stones but was not granted leave for treatment. Instead, he stated that he was assigned domestic chores, such as washing utensils, at the official residence of Morena Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh.
Singh expressed frustration, mentioning that his request for 15 days’ leave due to his medical condition was turned down, even after informing senior officials. He raised concerns about his treatment within the police department, emphasizing that he continued to work despite his deteriorating health. The video quickly gained traction, causing unease within the Morena police force.
In response, police officials refuted the constable’s claims. Reserve Inspector Ravikant Shukla dismissed the allegations as unsubstantiated, alleging that the constable had been absent from duty for two days. Shukla suggested that the video might have been recorded under the influence of alcohol and mentioned that a medical examination was conducted, awaiting the report.
Shukla added that the constable later admitted in writing that he was intoxicated during the video recording. He clarified that the proper procedures for requesting medical leave, including documentation and official approval, were not followed. Despite this, the incident has drawn attention to the constable’s situation, raising concerns about workplace conditions and access to medical leave within the police force.
