A clash over parking spaces in the Aerodrome district of Indore escalated into violence when a gym owner was assaulted with a sword, causing fear among residents. The incident, captured on video, showed a neighbor attacking Ashu Vyas along 60 Feet Road, prompting chaos in the vicinity.
In a daring move, the victim managed to block the sword with his hand, sustaining injuries but averting a potentially fatal outcome. Prompt intervention by locals helped contain the situation. The footage of the attack has circulated widely on social media, leading the police to launch an investigation, although no formal complaint has been lodged as of yet, as per the station in-charge.
The assailant, identified as Rakesh Khandelwal, who is the cousin of BJP leader Kamlesh Khandelwal, reportedly instigated the assault following a dispute over parking with neighbors. Despite attempts to hush up the incident, community members intervened swiftly, preventing a more severe incident.
Allegations surfaced that influential figures pressured the survivor to resolve the matter outside legal channels when he visited the police station. Eventually, both parties purportedly reached a settlement on Monday evening. However, with the emergence of the video depicting the use of a deadly weapon, the police have shifted their stance, promising a thorough inquiry to uphold law and order.
