A bride has expressed her sadness as more than half of her wedding guests failed to attend the event. The couple found themselves £22,000 poorer after preparing for 88 expected guests who did not show up as planned.
Gray Narvaez-Dragion, a 19-year-old who prefers they/them pronouns, shared their disappointment on TikTok. Their emotional video, viewed over eight million times, revealed that only around 40 guests appeared, leaving the venue sparsely populated with empty tables meant for the missing attendees.
Posting under the handle @grayanxiety, Gray and their spouse Nyx received an outpouring of sympathy from viewers. They had to cancel various parts of the celebration, including the sparkler send-off and private dance, due to the low turnout. Gray showcased the numerous positive RSVPs they had received and their reaction to the heartbreaking situation.
In one poignant moment captured on video, Gray, with tear-streaked makeup, recounted how they sat in an empty ceremony room with Nyx, both in tears. They shared their efforts to make the event special for everyone, mentioning custom-made gifts that now remained unused.
The couple also mentioned how they could not afford basic necessities after the wedding expenses and Gray’s job loss. Despite the financial strain, their followers offered to buy wedding presents to make up for the absent guests.
