Must read

Phonemakers are pushing the boundaries with their focus on camera technology in flagship smartphones. Oppo recently announced the upcoming launch of its premium flagship model, the Find X9 Ultra, in India next month. This device is designed to offer users a professional-grade photography experience, positioning it in competition with other ‘Ultra’ smartphones like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the soon-to-be-released Vivo X300 Ultra.

Oppo revealed through a press release that the Find X9 Ultra will debut alongside the Find X9s in India in May 2026, expanding the Find X9 series to include four models: Find X9, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Ultra, and Find X9s. The Find X9s will be positioned below the standard Find X9 model.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra boasts a distinct design compared to other models in the Find X9 series. The phone features a prominent circular camera module on the back housing four cameras, with the flash positioned on the top left side. The device also prominently displays Oppo and Hasselblad branding. The thickness of the Find X9 Ultra varies based on the color variant, with the fibreglass back model measuring 8.65mm thick and the vegan leather Tundra variant at 9.1mm. The Tundra variant showcases a split design reminiscent of professional cameras, emphasizing the device’s camera-centric focus. Additionally, the phone comes with an aluminum frame and boasts IP66/IP68/IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Camera capabilities are a highlight of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, featuring a quad-camera setup developed in collaboration with Hasselblad. The primary sensor is a 200-megapixel camera with OIS, accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 200-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel ultra-telephoto camera offering up to 10x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom. The device also includes a dedicated color reproduction lens and a 50-megapixel selfie camera. Additionally, Oppo is expected to provide a telephoto converter kit for the Find X9 Ultra.

The Find X9 Ultra offers impressive specifications, including a 6.82-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The device runs on Android 16-based ColorOS16 and features a 7,050mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

While the pricing for the Oppo Find X9 Ultra has not been disclosed yet, it is anticipated that the device will come with a premium price tag. For reference, competing models like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra start at Rs 1,39,999 in India.

The Find X9s is positioned as a more affordable premium device compared to the flagship models. It features a similar design to the standard Find X9, sporting a square camera module, glass back, and aluminum frame with a thickness of 7.9mm. The camera setup includes a triple rear camera system with three 50-megapixel sensors and a 32-megapixel front camera. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, the Find X9s offers LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 7,025mAh silicon-carbon battery supporting 80W fast charging.

Similar to the Find X9 Ultra, Oppo has not disclosed the pricing details for the Find X9s in India, but it is expected to be priced below the base Find X9 model starting at Rs 74,999.
