A 17-year-old girl has been apprehended by authorities for allegedly contaminating meals meant for her parents and cousin with a toxic substance known as chumbinho in Nova Serrana, Brazil. The teenager confessed to adding the poison to the food after a dispute with her family over her romantic relationship. This substance is typically used to exterminate rodents.
According to Major Renato Geraldo da Silva of the Military Police, the girl took the three meals prepared by her mother and spiked them with the toxic substance without their knowledge. The cousin who began to consume one of the contaminated meals noticed an irregular texture and alerted his family, preventing them from eating the poisoned food.
The teenager’s actions were fueled by anger due to her parents’ disapproval of her romantic involvement, leading to the disturbing incident. The poison container was already present in the household before the incident occurred. Forensic teams collected samples of the food and the toxic substance for further analysis.
The girl, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently in custody at the Civil Police station, accompanied by her legal representative, awaiting further legal proceedings. The case remains under investigation by the authorities.
