In the midst of the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that their continuous offensive against Iran has significantly weakened crucial capabilities. However, the operation, known as “Operation Roaring Lion,” is far from complete, with further strikes planned to continue.
Lieutenant Ben Cohen, the deputy international spokesperson for the IDF, emphasized to India Today TV that the campaign is specifically aimed at dismantling Iran’s military infrastructure. He reiterated that the IDF will persist until these objectives are achieved, stating, “We have clear goals, and we will persevere until they are met.”
The operation, conducted jointly by Israel and the United States, focuses on neutralizing what is perceived as an existential threat posed by Iran. It targets Iran’s military infrastructure, including its ballistic missile program, weapons manufacturing capabilities, and command-and-control systems.
Cohen highlighted the substantial progress made in the past month, asserting that Israeli and allied forces have established aerial superiority over Iran and have successfully targeted numerous sites. He noted that more than 70% of Iran’s ballistic missile launchers have been rendered inoperable, with continuous strikes on missile storage facilities and production sites.
Despite these advancements, Cohen affirmed that the mission is still in progress until the set objectives are reached. He clarified that the IDF’s warnings to Iranian civilians to avoid rail networks after 9 pm are part of their policy of providing advance notice, emphasizing that the intention is not to harm civilians but to target the Iranian regime.
Addressing concerns about civilian casualties, Cohen stressed that Israel prioritizes protecting civilians through evacuation warnings and defensive measures. He accused Iran of endangering civilians by embedding military assets within civilian areas, citing an incident in Haifa where a residential building was hit by an Iranian missile, resulting in the deaths of four civilians.
When questioned about specific high-profile targets, Cohen refrained from divulging details but reiterated that the focus remains on government and military command structures. He emphasized that each target is rigorously assessed for its military significance and potential impact on civilians, ensuring compliance with international law.
With no definitive timeline for the conclusion of hostilities, the IDF’s communication indicates a sustained effort in line with the overarching goal of dismantling Iran’s military capabilities.
