The contentious hobby in question is motorbike riding, which Kate finds concerning for valid reasons. Motorcycling is known for its thrill and danger, causing Kate distress at the thought of William, her cherished husband and father of her children, partaking in such a high-risk pursuit regularly.
Kate expressed her apprehension towards William’s motorbike hobby in 2015, four years into their marriage, when their children were still young. She admitted her fear during a visit to Dundee, emphasizing her discomfort with William riding his motorbike. William, understanding Kate’s worries, has since dialed back his motorcycling activities, considering the safety of his family.
While William has reduced his involvement in motorbike riding, he couldn’t resist testing a Triumph motorbike during a tour in Hinckley in 2018. Donning protective gear, the prince, then 35 years old, took a spin on the latest Triumph Tiger 1200, expressing his enjoyment of the ride despite its brevity.
William obtained his motorbike license at 19, and a few years later, he and his brother Prince Harry embarked on a charitable off-road adventure in South Africa, raising a significant sum for a noble cause. Kate is not the only member of the Royal Family with reservations about William’s motorbike passion, as King Charles has also expressed concerns about the safety risks associated with motorcycling.
