Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority announced the arrival of an India-flagged vessel carrying 15,400 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The port authority highlighted the significance of this event considering the tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
The vessel, named Green Asha, made history by docking at JNPA’s liquid berth operated by BPCL-IOCL after crossing the challenging Strait of Hormuz. This marks the first time such a vessel has reached JNPA since the conflict began, delivering a substantial load of LPG.
Authorities confirmed the safety of the vessel, its cargo, and the entire crew, emphasizing the resilience of maritime operations under complex geopolitical circumstances while ensuring a continuous supply of vital LPG to the nation. JNPA, also known as JNPT and Nhava Sheva port in Navi Mumbai, is a crucial hub for handling container and liquid cargo, playing a vital role in India’s energy distribution network.
