Beloved Hollyoaks actor, Trevor A Toussaint, has passed away at the age of 65, as confirmed by his agent. Toussaint, known for his role as Walter Deveraux in 147 episodes of the popular serial drama from 2018 to 2022, was mourned by his family and colleagues.
In a statement released by Toussaint’s management, they expressed deep sadness and gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time. Kellé Bryan, who managed Toussaint and portrayed his on-screen daughter Martine Deveraux in Hollyoaks, paid tribute to him on her Instagram page, reminiscing about their time working together on the Channel 4 show.
Bryan praised Toussaint’s groundbreaking career, highlighting his refusal to conform to stereotypes in the 70s when black actors were often typecast. She commended his resilience and the barriers he broke down for future generations. Colleagues and friends, including Jessica Fox, Richard Blackwood, Nikki Sanderson, and Ricky Norwood, shared heartfelt messages honoring Toussaint’s memory.
In addition to his role in Hollyoaks, Toussaint also appeared in other notable TV shows such as Death in Paradise, Dreaming Whilst Black, and Sulphur and White. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of a talented actor who made a significant impact on and off the screen.
