“Green Sanvi En Route to India Through Strait of Hormuz”

Must read

The Green Sanvi, an LPG tanker heading for India, is currently navigating through the Strait of Hormuz, as per data from ship-tracking platform VesselFinder. This marks the seventh LPG carrier en route to India to pass through the chokepoint since the conflict in West Asia began.

Previously, it was reported by India Today that six LPG tankers — Shivalik, Nanda Devi, Jag Vasant, BW Tyr, BW Elm, and Pine Gas — had arrived at Indian ports. The Green Sanvi, with a carrying capacity of 58,811 metric tonnes, is on par with the larger LPG carriers that have previously reached India.

Currently, there are around 15 Indian oil and gas vessels stranded to the west of the Strait of Hormuz, including two LPG carriers bound for India, namely Green Asha and Jag Vikram. While Green Sanvi has resumed movement towards the Qeshm-Larak crossing after activating its AIS system, the other two vessels appear to be stationary near the chokepoint.

The final destination port in India for the Green Sanvi is yet to be confirmed. The vessel is broadcasting a “India Ship India Crew” message in its destination signal, a strategy increasingly adopted by Indian-affiliated vessels recently to mitigate the risk of being targeted by IRGC forces.
