Fakhar Zaman has received a two-match ban for engaging in ball-tampering during Lahore Qalandars’ Pakistan Super League match against Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The batter was found in violation of altering the ball’s condition, as outlined in the PCB Code of Conduct and PSL Playing Conditions.
The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Faisal Khan Aafreedi and Sharfuddoula Saikat, along with TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed. Despite denying the accusation, Fakhar opted to challenge it in a full disciplinary hearing overseen by match referee Roshan Mahanama.
As a result of the ban, Fakhar will be absent for Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming matches against Multan Sultans on April 3 and Islamabad United on April 9. The incident occurred in the final over of Karachi Kings’ victory over Lahore Qalandars, leading to a penalty of five runs awarded to Karachi for the ball-tampering.
With Fakhar sidelined, Lahore Qalandars may consider including right-handed batter Tayyab Tahir in the team for the upcoming matches.
