“Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8: What to Expect This Summer”

Must read

Samsung is gearing up to potentially release the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 this summer, serving as the successor to the previous Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 model. Leaks suggest that there may not be significant changes in the battery aspect, with expectations that the Flip8 will continue using a split battery configuration similar to its predecessor. The current model, Flip7, boasts a 4,300mAh battery, and rumors hint that Samsung might retain the same capacity for the upcoming Flip8. The charging speed is also anticipated to stay at 25W, consistent with both Flip7 and the older Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 from 2022.

Reports indicate that Samsung is exploring a shift from traditional graphite-based lithium-ion cells to silicon-carbon battery technology. This transition is likely to make its debut in Samsung’s next flagship series, the Galaxy S27 lineup, projected for launch next year. Documents from Samsung SDI reveal that the company is experimenting with high-capacity silicon-carbon batteries, including prototypes with capacities of 12,000mAh, 18,000mAh, and 20,000mAh. However, these advancements are expected to have minimal impact on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 this year.

When it comes to the expected specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8, it is anticipated to maintain a similar display setup as its predecessor, featuring a Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The inner display size is likely to remain around 6.9 inches, while the cover screen may retain the edge-to-edge 4.1-inch design introduced in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7. However, reports suggest that Samsung may continue using older M13 display materials instead of newer M14 or M16 panels, potentially limiting improvements in brightness and efficiency.

Internally, the device is expected to be powered by Samsung’s 2nm Exynos 2600 chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM. Storage options are projected to include 256GB and 512GB variants, without support for expandable storage. The camera setup of the Galaxy Z Flip8 may not undergo significant hardware upgrades, with expectations for a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel front-facing shooter. While hardware changes may be limited, Samsung is anticipated to enhance software features like ProVisual Engine and Nightography for improved image processing.

On the software front, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to operate on One UI 9 based on Android 17, with Samsung likely expanding its Galaxy AI capabilities, including enhanced voice assistance and smarter photo editing tools. In terms of design, the phone is projected to maintain a largely similar appearance to its predecessor, with minor refinements such as a slightly thinner profile. It is also expected to remain lightweight, with leaks suggesting a weight ranging between 150g and 180g.
