Malin + Goetz, a popular beauty brand, has entered administration, leading to the closure of all seven of its stores in the UK. The affected stores are situated in various locations in London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards. This closure decision is expected to affect over 70 jobs. Consequently, the company has temporarily suspended online orders, with a notice on their website informing customers of this change.
Despite the closure of its physical stores, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products from third-party retailers like Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK. The company has assured customers that their online platform will be operational again after a brief maintenance period, although the exact duration remains uncertain.
In a statement to TheIndustry.beauty, a Malin+Goetz spokesperson explained that after a thorough evaluation of the business and exploring various options, the company had no choice but to place its UK operations into administration. This decision, including the closure of stores and the head office, was deemed necessary given the circumstances, despite the regrettable impact on employees and customers.
Founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered six products catering to all skin types. Over the years, the brand has expanded its range to include fragrances, body care items, and other beauty products.
