“Olympic Champion Jessica Ennis-Hill Joins Sinfield for MND Fundraiser”

Must read

British Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will be supporting Kevin Sinfield in his fundraising efforts for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Sheffield. Ennis-Hill, a Sheffield resident, will run alongside Sinfield on Thursday as part of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge, where Sinfield aims to complete an ultra marathon daily for a week.

Sinfield, a former England and Leeds Rhinos rugby star, initiated this annual challenge to raise funds for MND charities. His previous efforts have amassed over £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds. Sinfield’s motivation stems from his friend and ex-teammate Rob Burrow’s battle with MND.

Ennis-Hill, renowned for her heptathlon Olympic gold in 2012 and three world championships, has transitioned into a successful media career post-retirement. She actively supports various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

With the recent news of former England rugby player Lewis Moody’s MND diagnosis, Sinfield emphasizes the ongoing need for awareness and fundraising. Moody plans to host a charity dinner and organize a fundraising bike ride in 2026.

After completing the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Kevin Sinfield will proceed to Cumbria, Scotland, and conclude in Leeds. To learn more about the initiative, visit https://www.therhinos.co.uk/the-club/sinfield-together-2025.
