A dramatic incident unfolded in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, when a young man climbed a mobile tower nearly 300 feet high, demanding to meet his girlfriend and threatening to jump if his request was not fulfilled. The episode occurred close to the southern gate of Muzaffarpur Junction on Wednesday.
The man, known as Anish Kumar, scaled the tower early in the morning and remained perched on it for several hours, attracting a large crowd in the area.
Anish, who had recently returned from working at a tiles shop in Pune, had left his home on Tuesday evening intending to go back to Pune. However, on Wednesday morning, he opted to climb the tower instead.
In a surprising turn of events, Anish himself called the emergency helpline 112 around 11 am to inform authorities of his actions. He conveyed to the police that he would leap from the tower if his girlfriend was not brought to meet him.
Authorities revealed that the young man was in a relationship with a woman from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and had been urging his family through phone calls to arrange a meeting with her.
After the alert, both police and administrative officials quickly responded to the scene and initiated efforts to convince Anish to descend safely. The situation created a spectacle that lasted for hours, attracting a large gathering of locals.
Officials stated that continuous efforts were being made to safely bring Anish down, with his family members also engaged in counseling him during the intense situation.
