Agra police have initiated a new crackdown in the widely discussed case involving allegations of religious conversion syndicate. Dawood Ahmed is facing a fresh case for allegedly providing financial support to the network, with authorities posting a notice of property attachment at his residence in Bhopal to initiate asset seizure procedures.
The case emerged in July 2025 when two underage sisters disappeared from Agra’s Sadar area. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the girls had been in contact with an organized conversion operation. They were eventually rescued from Kolkata, uncovering a larger network.
Over 14 suspects have been apprehended in connection with the case. The alleged mastermind, Abdul Rahman, was identified as operating from Delhi, while his accomplice, Ayesha, reportedly managed parts of the network from Goa.
During interrogation, the suspects disclosed that the syndicate received financial backing from overseas sources, with funds being channeled from countries such as Canada and the UAE. Dawood Ahmed, originally from Bhopal and currently residing in Canada, was implicated in facilitating these financial transactions.
Despite police raids in Bhopal to capture him, Dawood Ahmed remains at large. With his failure to comply with court summons, authorities have escalated their actions, including posting a property attachment notice at his Bhopal residence, with further asset seizure measures anticipated.
Furthermore, a new case has been lodged against Dawood Ahmed at Sadar Bazar police station under Section 209 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Throughout the investigation, several girls were rescued from the alleged syndicate. Officials are actively working to dismantle the entire network, with more arrests and operations anticipated in the near future.
