WhatsApp has introduced new updates for Apple CarPlay users, enabling them to send messages, make calls, and access favorite contacts directly from their car’s dashboard. The announcement was made through the Apple App Store upon the release of the latest WhatsApp for iOS 26.13.74 update, along with the revelation of an event focusing on enhancements for CarPlay users.
With the latest features, CarPlay users can now easily message and call friends, family, and groups directly from the dashboard interface, eliminating the need to rely on Siri, which often led to message misinterpretations. Moreover, users can now view recent chats and contact details directly on the screen, addressing previous limitations.
The update introduces three new tabs to enhance the user experience:
– Chat List Tab: Displays recent chats with unread messages, although users cannot open specific conversations.
– Call History Tab: Shows a chronological list of incoming, outgoing, and missed calls with timestamps and contact names, allowing users to return missed calls quickly.
– Favorite Contacts Tab: Provides quick access to frequently contacted individuals without the need to navigate through the entire chat list.
These enhancements are available with the latest WhatsApp for iOS update, eliminating the necessity for a separate WhatsApp for CarPlay app. Upon installing the update from the App Store, users can seamlessly access messaging, calls, and favorite contacts on the CarPlay dashboard once their phone is connected.
Additionally, WhatsApp recently rolled out a feature allowing iOS users to use two accounts on a single device, following its availability for Android users. The platform has also streamlined the process of transferring chats between platforms, now supporting the transfer of chat history from iOS to Android and within the same platform.
This marks the second recent update for WhatsApp on iOS, following the introduction of the two-account feature on March 27. These enhancements aim to provide users with a more seamless and efficient messaging experience across different platforms.
