Sunil Gavaskar Raises Alarm Over CSK’s Bowling Woes

Must read

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed concerns about Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) bowling performance in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Following their recent defeat to Punjab Kings (PBKS), where CSK failed to defend a total of 209 runs, Gavaskar highlighted the potential struggle the team may face due to their bowling unit.

Gavaskar emphasized that the bowlers’ inconsistency could create added pressure on the batsmen, requiring them to consistently aim for scores between 225 and 230 to remain competitive in the tournament. He mentioned this during his appearance on Star Sports’ ‘Amul Cricket Live’ show.

With the competition witnessing teams with strong batting line-ups, Gavaskar stressed the importance for CSK to address their bowling issues promptly. He pointed out that many teams, including PBKS, have substantial batting depth, indicating that Chennai needs to improve their bowling performance to counter such challenges.

CSK had a disappointing run in the previous season, finishing at the bottom of the table for the first time in their history. Starting this season with back-to-back defeats, including a loss to Rajasthan Royals and the defeat against PBKS, CSK currently occupies the bottom spot in the standings with a negative net run rate of -2.562, the lowest among all participating teams.
