“Labour Trails in Polls as PM Plans Major Policy Overhaul”

Must read

The public has sent a strong message to Keir Starmer, emphasizing the need for him to address ongoing issues. Recent Deltapoll research revealed that Labour is polling at 20%, trailing behind Reform at 30% and the Tories at 19%. Despite being in power for a year and achieving some milestones, Labour still has ground to make up in the polls.

The Prime Minister has outlined plans for significant policy changes in 2026, aiming to turn Britain’s renewal into reality. These initiatives include enhancing neighborhood policing, removing the two-child benefit cap, implementing a rail fares freeze, and reducing energy bills.

Leadership approval ratings paint a grim picture for Downing Street, with the PM receiving a net score of -46. A majority believe he is performing poorly, even among those who voted Labour in the last election. This dissatisfaction comes ahead of crucial upcoming local elections in May, such as the Holyrood election in Scotland and the Senedd election in Wales.

Kemi Badenoch garnered a -9 rating, with a notable percentage undecided on her performance. Despite Reform leading in the polls, Nigel Farage’s approval rating stands at -4, with low public trust in his party on various issues.

Reform UK faces distrust on multiple fronts, including defense, immigration, and education. This skepticism is underscored by recent events, such as the imprisonment of the party’s former leader in Wales for corruption related to pro-Russia propaganda.

Joe Twyman, Co-founder and Director of Deltapoll, highlighted the challenges faced by the Labour government and Keir Starmer. With several years until the next general election, there is a window of opportunity for Downing Street to reverse the current trend and regain public confidence. However, the longer public sentiment remains unchanged, the tougher the road ahead for the government.
