“Apple Rumored to Introduce Updated Siri with Third-Party Chatbots”

Must read

Apple is rumored to introduce an updated Siri with iOS 27 this year, potentially powered by Google’s Gemini models. Alongside this, there are speculations that Apple might offer users more choices, including the ability to utilize third-party chatbots within Siri.

Reports suggest that Apple could unveil a new feature named Siri Extensions, enabling users to run third-party chatbots like Anthropic’s Claude within Siri. These extensions could be accessed through a dedicated AI App Store, providing users with additional functionality.

Apple seems to be focusing on its hardware strengths and leveraging its platforms to generate more revenue, given the competitive landscape in AI dominated by companies like Google and OpenAI. This strategy may lead to the creation of a dedicated AI section in the App Store, facilitating connections between Siri and third-party AI services.

While Apple has faced challenges in developing its AI models and has seen key AI talent depart for competitors like OpenAI, the company recently inked a significant deal to enhance Siri with Gemini technology. The updated Siri, codenamed Campo, is anticipated to debut at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, 2026.

Users may have to wait until the iOS 27 release, expected to coincide with the launch of the next generation of iPhones in fall 2026, to experience the revamped Siri. The enhanced Siri will offer improved functionality for completing tasks and accessing information. Additionally, Apple is exploring the possibility of a standalone Siri app to enhance the personal assistant’s capabilities, making it more akin to a chatbot like ChatGPT or Gemini.
