The government has initiated the consultation process for the 8th Pay Commission by scheduling meetings with employee unions, associations, and institutions. According to a notification released on April 11, 2026, the Commission will conduct interaction sessions in Delhi later this month, followed by visits to various cities.
Meetings are planned in New Delhi on April 28, 29, and 30, where employee unions and associations can present their demands and suggestions. Interested groups are required to submit a memorandum on the official website (8cpc.gov.in) and request an appointment via email before April 20, along with the unique memo ID generated during submission.
Further details regarding venue and meeting schedules will be provided later by the government. The consultation process will extend beyond Delhi, with the Commission scheduled to visit Pune, Maharashtra, on May 4 and 5. Central government organizations, institutions, and employee groups in the region can participate by submitting their memoranda online and requesting appointments within the specified deadline.
The government has indicated that additional meetings will be organized in Delhi and other states in the upcoming weeks. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai chairs the 8th Central Pay Commission, with Professor Pulak Ghosh serving as a part-time member and Pankaj Jain as the Member-Secretary.
In addition to consultations, the government has invited applications for consultants on a contractual basis to provide additional expertise. The initial term for consultants will be one year or until the Commission’s tenure ends, with the possibility of extensions based on performance and conduct.
These meetings mark the initial phase in determining salary revisions for central government employees and pensioners. As consultations progress, expectations regarding pay, allowances, and benefits are expected to gather momentum in the coming months.
