“Murderer Jake Fahri Facing Open Prison Transfer”

Must read

A convicted murderer, Jake Fahri, known for his callous lyrics about killing a teenage boy, is slated to be transferred to an open prison. Fahri received a life sentence in 2009, with a minimum term of 14 years, for the fatal attack on Jimmy Mizen at a bakery in south London. Witnesses recalled Fahri smiling as he left the scene after hurling an oven dish at the 16-year-old, causing fatal injuries.

Released on parole in June 2023, Fahri was later sent back to prison in January 2025 for releasing music that glorified the murder. He was identified as the drill artist “Ten,” who referenced Jimmy’s death in his tracks on platforms like Spotify and YouTube. The Parole Board noted Fahri’s lack of transparency regarding his music and multiple breaches of his parole conditions.

Despite Fahri’s claim of ignorance regarding his parole restrictions, evidence from his probation officer contradicted this assertion. While Fahri and his supporters advocated for his release at a hearing, Justice Secretary David Lammy opposed it, citing public safety concerns. The Parole Board deemed Fahri unfit for release, emphasizing the need for him to reflect on his behavior and comply with a structured plan.

In response to the decision, Jimmy’s mother expressed relief that Fahri would remain in custody, indicating it was the appropriate choice from the start. Open prisons, with limited security measures, provide eligible inmates the opportunity to engage in work or education outside prison hours. The final decision on Fahri’s transfer will rest with Justice Secretary David Lammy. The Mirror has reached out to the Parole Board and the Ministry of Justice for comments.
