“Man’s 285-Mile Journey for Driving Test Cancelled Over Wet Seat”

Must read

A man with three children who traveled 285 miles for a driving test had it canceled due to a wet seat, forcing him to wait until April for another chance. Jacob Caroll, 27, had been struggling to find a test nearby and eventually booked one in Scarborough, a 300-mile journey from his home. Despite having the car professionally cleaned before the long drive, a few raindrops on the passenger seat caused the examiner to refuse to proceed with the test, even rejecting a blanket offered by Jacob.

Expressing frustration over the situation at Scarborough Driving Test Centre on December 15, Jacob, a shift manager from Chichester, West Sussex, highlighted the inconvenience of having to reschedule the test for April, just before his theory test expires. His mother-in-law, Vicky Bagshaw, emphasized the impact on the family, mentioning the burden it puts on her daughter and the disappointment of the wasted trip and expenses.

The DVSA spokesperson declined to comment on individual cases but encouraged any learner driver who feels mistreated to report the issue promptly.
