Christmas Chocolate Tin Prices Skyrocket: Shoppers Advised to Budget

Must read

During this time of year, many people enjoy purchasing tins of chocolate to share with loved ones or savor individually. However, if you were thinking of doing so, it might be wise to budget for it.

Traditionally, one would not have anticipated spending more than five pounds on a tin of holiday chocolates. To my surprise, during a recent visit to the supermarket, I was taken aback by the prices of Cadbury Roses and Heroes tins, which were priced at £16.50 for a 700g tin.

Fortunately, there is a slight discount available for Nectar cardholders, bringing the price down to £10, although it still seems quite high in my opinion.

For those shopping at Sainsbury’s, there are more affordable options for chocolate Christmas tins. The Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Additionally, a 750g tin of Quality Street can be purchased for £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.

Moreover, tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, and Quality Street weighing 500-550g are available for just £6 each.

For those seeking better deals, Tesco is currently offering the same 500-550g Celebrations and Quality Street tubs for only £3.95 with a Clubcard, or £4.50 without the card. The Heroes tub that costs £16.50/£10 at Sainsbury’s is priced at just £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, or £15 without the card.

Recent findings have unveiled the most economical supermarkets for Christmas chocolate tubs. Asda currently offers standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations for under £5, while Morrisons sells them for £7 (or £5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).

Furthermore, Celebrations and Quality Street tubs are priced at £3.95 with a Clubcard at Tesco, while Roses and Heroes cost £7 (or £5.25 with a Clubcard). Aldi and Lidl are also selling tubs for less than £5.

While Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not carry traditional tubs on their websites, they do offer smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates ranging from approximately £4 to £10.
