Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has released new photos from the site of a tragic accident involving British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The agency has also given a detailed account of the incident which claimed the lives of two individuals.

Anthony Joshua was hospitalized after being rescued from a SUV that crashed on Nigeria’s Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Monday morning. The accident, caused by a burst tire, caused the vehicle to swerve and collide with a stationary lorry.

Authorities from the Ogun State police are conducting an investigation into the incident, while the FRSC has also issued an update.

A recent post by the organization on X at 2:10pm GMT on Monday, December 29, displayed four new images showing the damaged SUV and the truck it collided with.

In the photos, officials are seen on the scene alongside witnesses, with the truck’s rear section cordoned off.

The FRSC’s statement confirmed the fatal crash involving Anthony Joshua, detailing the swift response by their operatives to the scene. The crash involved a Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua and a stationary truck, resulting in casualties.

The statement revealed that the vehicle carrying Joshua was speeding at the time of the accident, leading to loss of control and the subsequent collision with the truck. The FRSC emphasized the dangers of speeding and reckless overtaking on Nigerian roads.

The agency extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Anthony Joshua a speedy recovery. They urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and prioritize safety, especially during the festive season.

According to preliminary reports from the Ogun State government, the two individuals who lost their lives were foreign nationals.

Anthony Joshua has not made any public statements following the accident, and his exact location remains undisclosed.
