According to reports, the accident occurred when Joshua’s vehicle swerved out of control after a tire blowout. Local authorities, including the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, are investigating the crash. An eyewitness, Adeniyi Orojo, recounted that Joshua was in a convoy comprising a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV, with tragic consequences for two passengers in the Lexus.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, was informed about the incident while on vacation and confirmed that Joshua was en route to the hospital. Joshua, who was in Nigeria, recently defeated Jake Paul in a boxing match. Born in England, Joshua has strong ties to Nigeria, as evidenced by his frequent display of the Nigerian flag.

After his victory over Jake Paul, Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury. In a post-fight message on Instagram, Joshua expressed gratitude to his supporters and hinted at upcoming developments in the New Year.
