A teenage Dalit girl was reportedly murdered by her boyfriend and his accomplice in Uttar Pradesh after a dispute related to their romantic involvement, authorities disclosed on Sunday. The police have filed a case against the boyfriend and his friend in connection to the incident.
The tragic event occurred in Deoria district on Saturday night, during which the accused allegedly slashed the victim’s throat.
As per Circle Officer Sinti Sanjay Reddy, the victim, Anjali, a resident of Nautan Hathiyagarh village, was fatally attacked by Shivam Singh and his partner.
On Saturday evening around 8 pm, Anjali went out with her younger sister and brother to have a mobile phone repaired near Sahodar Patti Chowk. Two young men on a motorcycle confronted them and physically assaulted the three siblings. Upon spotting a knife, the children attempted to flee. Nevertheless, the perpetrators pursued them into a wheat field, seized Anjali, and inflicted a stab wound to her neck. As the siblings tried to rush back home, the assailants slit Anjali’s throat and fled the scene.
When the family reached the location, they discovered Anjali had succumbed to her injuries. Subsequently, the police reached the crime scene and arranged for the body to undergo a post-mortem examination.
Authorities mentioned that the girl and Singh had been in a relationship for the past four years and disclosed that several individuals have been taken into custody for questioning. The police are actively pursuing Singh, who is currently evading capture.
