“Cow dragged to death: Outcry in Odisha”

Must read

An incident of alleged animal cruelty has caused significant public outcry in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. A truck driver was filmed dragging a cow behind his vehicle along National Highway-49, leading to his immediate arrest and the impoundment of the truck.

Witnesses reported that the cow’s hind legs were tied with a rope to the back of the truck, resulting in severe injuries as it was dragged on the road surface.

A widely circulated video captured the cow in critical condition, with one leg missing and the body severely damaged from the dragging.

Initial police reports suggest a series of events that unfolded before the act of cruelty. The cow had apparently been hit by the truck after straying onto the highway, causing its death.

Locals purportedly advised the driver to remove the carcass from the road, but instead of proper disposal, he opted to attach the cow to his truck and drag it away.

Community members have condemned the lack of compassion in this action, demanding strong legal repercussions against the driver.

The driver is currently detained for interrogation, while the authorities have initiated a formal inquiry to ascertain the extent of the offenses committed.

Officials have reassured the public that they are taking the case seriously and will ensure that justice is served in compliance with animal protection laws.
