OnePlus is set to unveil its latest smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 6, in India on April 6, amidst rumors of a potential shutdown. The new device will succeed the OnePlus Nord 5, released in July last year. The OnePlus Nord 6 will sport a redesigned rear camera setup and a design reminiscent of the OnePlus 15. It will also boast an upgraded chipset.
Although the rear camera specifications are anticipated to remain unchanged from its predecessor, there may be a downgrade in the front camera compared to the previous model.
Tipster Debayan Roy suggests that the OnePlus Nord 6 could be priced above Rs 35,000 in India, indicating an increase from previous Nord models. This aligns with the trend of new smartphones being launched at higher prices due to the global rise in RAM costs. For context, the OnePlus Nord 5 launched at Rs 31,999, while the OnePlus Nord 4 and Nord 3 were priced at Rs 29,999 and Rs 33,999, respectively.
The OnePlus Nord 6 will be available for purchase starting April 9 on various platforms including OnePlus’s website, Amazon, OnePlus Experience stores, and select retail outlets.
As for specifications, the OnePlus Nord 6 will feature an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. In contrast, the OnePlus Nord 5 came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.
The device will sport a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA primary sensor with OIS for photography, alongside an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. However, the front camera is expected to be a 32-megapixel punch-hole selfie camera, a step down from the previous 50-megapixel option.
The display of the OnePlus Nord 6 will see significant enhancements, offering up to a 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1,800 nits, with a low of 2 nits for nighttime use. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord 5 featured a display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a brightness range of 800 nits to 1,800 nits.
Moreover, the OnePlus Nord 6 will come equipped with a 9,000mAh battery supporting 80W wired fast charging and 27W reverse wired charging, surpassing the OnePlus Nord 5 that had a 6,800mAh battery with 80W wired charging and 5W reverse charging.
