Iranian state television has made a chilling threat against President Donald Trump following his remarks about Iran. A news segment displayed an image of Trump with a bloody ear, implying an assassination attempt, accompanied by a message warning that the next attempt would be successful.
Trump previously claimed, without providing detailed information, that executions in Iran were halted based on reliable sources. This statement came after he encouraged Iranians to continue protesting against the government, assuring them that help was coming.
Activists reported that between 2,500 and 3,000 individuals have died during recent protests in Iran. The country’s justice chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, urged swift punishment for over 18,000 detainees through rapid trials and executions to maintain effectiveness.
Families expressed distress over the swift sentencing of their loved ones, including Erfan Soltani, who faced imminent hanging for participating in anti-government demonstrations. The UK closed its embassy in Iran due to security concerns, advising British citizens against traveling there.
The British government announced the temporary closure of the embassy in Tehran, which will operate remotely. Foreign Office travel advice has been updated to reflect these changes.
