“Google Introduces Gmail Address Change Feature”

Must read

Google has rolled out a new feature allowing users to change their Gmail addresses. This long-anticipated feature is now available for all users after being in development since late last year. Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, announced the update, emphasizing that users no longer need to be stuck with email addresses from the past.

To change your Gmail address while retaining the same account, users can access the settings page on Gmail and select an available address. Notably, this feature is currently limited to specific users.

Once the Gmail address is updated, individuals can receive emails sent to the new address, while the old address remains associated with the account. Incoming emails will be consolidated in the same inbox, ensuring continuity of communication.

In addition to the address change feature, Google is introducing AI enhancements to Gmail with the introduction of an “AI Inbox.” This feature, named Gemini, aims to streamline email management by highlighting important emails and organizing them into sections like “suggested to-dos” for tasks such as bill payments. Users will also benefit from a “topics to catch up on” section, providing updates on travel bookings and restaurant reservations.

While the AI Inbox is currently accessible to a select group of users in the US, Gemini can already summarize emails within the Gmail inbox. Google continues to innovate to enhance user experience and efficiency in email communication.
