Apple is preparing to unveil its upcoming iPhone series in less than half a year. Typically, the tech giant reveals its flagship models in September, a tradition likely to continue in 2026. The expectations are high for the iPhone 18 Pro series this year, building on the success of the previous iPhone 17 lineup.
The iPhone 17 Pro models brought significant changes for Apple, introducing a new design, reverting to aluminum construction, and incorporating a vapor cooling system. However, Apple is gearing up for further innovations with the anticipated launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
It is worth noting that Apple is expected to skip releasing the standard iPhone 18 during the fall event, with the base iPhone 18 slated for an early 2027 launch.
Regarding the design and display of the iPhone 18 Pro models, rumors suggest similarities to the iPhone 17 Pro design. The upcoming flagships are likely to maintain an aluminum unibody with a prominent camera bump on the rear. However, Apple is anticipated to introduce a refreshed look, opting for a unified single-tone color scheme instead of the dual-tone design seen in the iPhone 17 Pro models. Speculations hint at debut colors like burgundy or deep red, following the popularity of Cosmic Orange.
In terms of displays, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain a 6.3-inch OLED screen, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may feature the same 6.9-inch OLED panel as its predecessor. Notably, the Dynamic Island on both devices is projected to be smaller, with leaks suggesting a 35% reduction compared to the previous year. This downsizing is reportedly facilitated by relocating the Face ID sensors under the display, enabling a smaller cutout.
Moving on to performance and battery aspects, significant enhancements are anticipated for the iPhone 18 Pro models. Both devices are likely to be powered by the upcoming A20 Pro chipset, built on a 2nm process. The new chipset is expected to deliver up to 15% faster performance and 30% better energy efficiency compared to the A19 Pro.
Moreover, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may house a larger battery capacity ranging between 5,100 and 5,200mAh, surpassing the previous model. Reports indicate that the enhanced battery size could offer improved longevity compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max variants.
Regarding cameras, the iPhone 18 Pro models are speculated to retain the triple-rear camera setup from the previous iteration, featuring three 48-megapixel sensors for primary, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses. Furthermore, rumors suggest the introduction of a variable aperture on the main lens for enhanced control over exposure and depth of field, alongside improvements in low-light performance and image quality through advanced sensor technology.
The front camera is expected to feature an 18-megapixel sensor, consistent with the previous model’s specifications.
The iPhone 18 Pro models are likely to be unveiled alongside the rumored iPhone fold in September, with pricing details anticipated to remain consistent with the previous year’s models. For reference, the iPhone 17 Pro was priced at Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max was priced at Rs 1,49,900.
