ICE Agents Shoot Two in Portland Amidst Nationwide Protests

Must read

Two more individuals have been shot by ICE agents in the United States. The shooting incident occurred in Portland following the recent death of a woman in Minneapolis.

According to Portland City council members, the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon near East Burnside and 141st Avenue. Portland City Council President Elana Pirtle-Guiney indicated that both victims are believed to be alive, although there has been no further update on their condition. The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident.

The shooting took place amidst anti-ICE protests that have erupted nationwide, including in Portland, after a 37-year-old woman was fatally shot in her car. Protesters swiftly gathered following the incident, holding a vigil for the deceased woman, Renee Good, and advocating for public opposition to immigration enforcement.

Ms. Good was killed by an ICE officer as she attempted to drive away on a snowy residential street during an operation related to immigration enforcement. Vice President JD Vance characterized her death as a “tragedy of her own making.”

Vance, speaking at the White House, expressed confidence in the investigation into the incident, stating that based on available videos, the situation was clear. He claimed that Ms. Good accelerated her vehicle into the officer, although the footage does not definitively show contact between the car and the officer.

The Vice President criticized Ms. Good, labeling her as “brainwashed” and a victim of “left-wing ideology.” He emphasized that her demise was a tragedy, partly attributed to the actions of the far left opposing law enforcement.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey disputed claims of self-defense by the officer, while President Trump asserted that Ms. Good intentionally struck the ICE officer. President Trump’s administration deployed federal law enforcement personnel and National Guard troops to address crime and immigration issues in Democratic cities, rejecting criticisms from Democrats and local officials calling for an end to the deployment of immigration officers.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt labeled Ms. Good’s killing as a consequence of a significant left-wing movement. Leavitt emphasized the administration’s commitment to removing dangerous criminal individuals from American streets.
